Obituary of Emma Czumaj
Emma was a hard-working woman who overcame much in her life. After World War II, she was able to marry the love of her life, John, and the pair had two sons while in Germany. The family planned to leave Germany for Australia, but during the departure physical, they discovered that Emma was pregnant. So now with three boys, the family set off for America instead. She began working as a prep cook in a Buffalo tavern, and she took on several other jobs until finally working for the West Seneca School System.
Emma was proud of her German Heritage. She was an excellent cook and baker, making specialties like her spaetzle and potato noodles, and her triple layered German torte cakes. Emma also enjoyed Bavarian music, the upbeat music that could bring joy into your heart. On top of all this, she was an exceptional knitter and gardener as well. In fact, she was such a talented gardener that was told that she had “green fingers,” not just a green thumb, because she could grow just about anything.
Please take a packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds, and take a moment to read the story on the back, as a way to always remember Emma’s love, and know that you will never forget the mark that she made on your life.
