Obituary of Daniel Swiatek
Daniel was born on November 18th in Buffalo, New York to Helen and Anthony Swiatek.
Dan was proud of his service to our country as a paratrooper, officer (Army Major) and life member of the 11th Armored Cavalry's Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, member of the 82nd Airborne Division Blackhorse Regiment, John F. Kennedy Center for Military Service and 1st Airborne Brigade, 3rd Armored Division. He was the recipient of numerous medals and awards: Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Bronze Star for Valor, Bronze Star for Meritorious Service, Army Commendation for Military Service, New York State Conspicuous Service Cross, and the Vietnamese Combat Armor Medal. In 2003, he was awarded the New York State Conspicuous Service Star by Govenor George Pataki's Executive Office for his military service with distinguished military units in Vietnam, Germany and the United States
Daniel served the Hamburg community as a 15-year member of the Frontier School Board, Town Youth Board, and helped organize many events sponsored by the Buffalo Grouse Society. He retired as a Corrections Counselor at Collins Correctional.
Dan was an outdoors man, enjoying hunting, fishing, and observing nature. He was a generous, loving, and kind person, always helping and giving to others. His favorite expression was "Whatever". He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marcia; his son, Eric (Ashley), beloved grandchildren Samantha, Brody, Cole; and daughter Danielle and beloved and devoted dog, Kody; as well as his brother, Peter; his sisters Joan (Dan), Camille (Ron), and many beloved nieces and nephews, godchildren, and in-laws.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to all who were a part of Daniel's life and made it a wonderful journey.

Swiatek, Daniel A. Hamburg resident, active community member, and awarded Vietnam Veteran passed away Dec. 3, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. Beloved husband of Marcia (nee Weslow); loving father of Eric C. (Ashley) and Danielle Swiatek; and dearest grandfather of Samantha, Brody, and Cole.
