Obituary of Steve Gattie
Steve was a kind-hearted and generous man. Most of the people who knew him knew that he would do anything in his power to help them. He was big on family, being very close to his parents and sister growing up. He was a man of faith, and even held small mass services for his family on occasion. He remained close with his sister Suzanne his whole life, even after she moved to Arizona. A loyal friend, most of Steve’s friends have been a huge part of his life since kindergarten. Since he didn’t have much family in the area, Steve’s friends filled that role for many years, and they could often be found hanging out down at Flattery’s. Nick, Lenny, Tom, and Dennis were some of his closest friends, who he affectionately called his “Flattery’s Family.”
Steve was a dog lover and regularly watched his friend’s dogs for them. He also enjoyed camping in Vermont and Alleghany. Being a huge hometown fan, he loved watching the Sabres and the Bills games on TV. His favorite pastimes, however, had to be playing bass and listening to Rush. They were his favorite band of all time. In every picture of Steve, if he’s not wearing a Bills Jersey, he’s wearing Rush T-shirt. They helped inspire him to learn to play bass, which he loved and did as often as he could.
