Obituary of Grant Gerlach
Grant was a hard working man who followed a very simple mantra: “There are three ways of doing things, the right way, the wrong way, and the Gerlach way”. As a young man, he worked with his father to build Gerlach’s Soda Bar, which is now known as Wanakah Drugstore. His father taught Grant all about construction, and helped begin a life long passion.
Grant was a perfectionist when it came to his carpentry, and it truly paid off. Using trees from his own land, he would build beautiful furniture as a hobby. He also built decoys for when he went duck and turkey hunting. He built a cabin in Leon, with beam ceilings and Butternut wood cabinets. Please take a Lincoln Log to remember Grant’s dedication and passion, and to remind yourself that all of us, brought together by Grant’s love, can build a home.
