Obituary of John Shaughnessy
John was an incredibly active man, both physically and politically, with a passion for just about everything. Whenever he could, John would bike everywhere, even biking to Canada and back to Buffalo. On vacations, wherever John went, the bike went, except for when he went to Europe, because he didn’t trust he drivers not to hit him. When it came to politics, John was proud of his support for President Trump and Rush Limbaugh, and would often go off on tangents when talking about them. John was also passionate about art, specifically modern art, such as works by Picasso. He made sure that every wall in his home was covered in art pieces.
John was very well known as a jokester, though his humor could never cover up his heart of gold. Back in 2000, at midnight in Key West, John proposed to his beloved wife, Barbara. He loved to tell everyone their story, and happily referred to Barb as “the bus that hit him”. His humor was well loved by everyone, and no matter where he went he was able to make friends. From the nurses at the hospital, to the woman who delivered his mail, to people at Wegmans, John could make just about anyone smile.
