Obituary of James Jakiel
Jim was the type of man who cared deeply for the people in his life. When he met the love of his life, Rita, when she was 17, Rita didn’t know how much her brother’s friend would come to mean to her. Jim was best friends with Rita’s twin brother since their high school years, and despite her family assuring her that Jim liked her, she just didn’t see it. The pair tied the knot in 1999, and together raised their little family of cats that they both absolutely adored.
Jim was a passionate man, and he had a great deal of hobbies that he held close to his heart. From boating to listening to the Rolling Stones to learning about forensic medicine, Jim’s passions were widespread. His favorite topic to learn about, however, was astronomy, both in real life and in science fiction. He was a huge Star Trek fan, even having Spock on his answering machine saying the iconic line, “Live long and prosper”. Jim was also fortunate enough to watch the historic solar eclipse this past summer. Please take a glow in the dark star to always remember Jim’s passion, and to remind yourself that even in the darkest of times, his love will still shine for you.
