Obituary of Raymond J. Melancon, Jr.
Raymond was an independent man with a love of organization. He was passionate about computers, and enjoyed learning how they work. In 1968, Raymond graduated from the University of Buffalo with his Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, and in his time at UB he answered an ad in the school newspaper for the Department of Defense Wright Patterson Airforce Base. Here, Raymond wrote code for the military computer system.
Though Raymond enjoyed computers, he also enjoyed watching sports with his father on the weekends, working out at the gym, reading, and playing word games. His favorite word game was Scrabble. One of the most important parts of Scrabble is that you can’t control the letters that you are given, but Raymond knew how to make the most of what he had.
