Loretta DiMartino was born in Buffalo, New York to Thomas and Joanna Spaltabaka. She was a wonderful wife to her husband Anthony, who she met through her girlfriend’s brother. The two went steady six months after their introduction and got engaged knowing they were soulmates. They enjoyed dancing together to the jitterbug, the waltz, and anything that would get them off their feet with their friends. After his passing, Loretta missed him dearly and never thought of another man. Their family was complete with their only daughter Colette who was born thirteen years into their marriage. Loretta was an amazing mother and always had matching outfits with Colette when she was little. Sewing was her passion and she even taught instructional classes and to her daughter. Being a seamstress was her trade; she worked as Singer Sewing Center and would sometimes sew in the store window as a live display. Loretta was so skilled at sewing that Anthony wanted to open a business for her, though Loretta only wanted to “sew for love.” After Colette went to high school and was more independent, Loretta went back to work at Hills selling and cutting material for sewing. Everything she made was with love, even her cooking. She was a great cook and liked to make Polish and Italian dishes such as beef roll-ups, sweet cabbage, and chrusciki on Easter. Every birthday, Loretta would make Colette a red velvet cake in a heart-shaped pan. She will be remembered for the love that she poured into everything that she made and missed for all the memories and love that were cherished. DiMartino, Loretta J.
