Dave was a compassionate and caring man that carried out a life of love. His deep love for people, nature, sweet treats and god fulfilled his days. No matter how he felt, he always put others before himself. Sometimes working 3 jobs or 7 days a week, he would do anything he could to provide for his family. At just 18 years old, he started his job at ford stamping plant before serving in the United States Army as military police. After his service, he spent some time working as a meat cutter in Brooklyn, where he met the love of his life, Maria. Together, the two of them went to see “butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid” as their first date. soon after that, they married in queens and moved to buffalo to enjoy their new life and return to the ford plant until his retirement 38 years later. Dave and Maria were married for 48 years. Dave served his Hamburg community as a Scranton fire company volunteer fire fighter. Dave encouraged his children to explore the beauty of nature and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Dave was a proud member of the South Towns Walleye Association and never missed a chance to go fishing in Lake erie, sturgeon point and 18 mile creek with his brother, children, grandchildren and good friends. He also adored any sweets he could get his hands on, from peanut donuts to banana crème and cherry pies that his sister would make for him. Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. His love of God was displayed in his daily words and actions. He respected and was kind to everyone he met. Always happy, cheerful and giving. He served all he met with a kind word, deed or just his radiant smile! Goodberry, David A.
