Gary was a hard headed but loyal man. People would say he was the best person to have as a friend but also the worst to have as an enemy! If you needed someone on your side, Gary was the one you wanted. He was immensely dedicated to his family and friends and truly valued and appreciated the people in his life – and also a few furry friends! His dog, Duke, who was his best friend for 14 years, and his brother Bob’s dog, Louie, who Gary affectionately referred to as his “dog-nephew,” were two of his favorite family members.
Gary met his wife, Diane, in the typical way; at a local bar. A mutual friend, Carmen, had tried to introduce them a year earlier. Gary was the only guy Diane’s son, Jeff, who was 3 at the time, approved of his mommy seeing. Soon they were married, and Gary became an instant father to Jeff. Shortly after, they packed up and moved to Florida to help run Diane’s Uncles’ well-drilling business. They decided to buy him out and make Florida their home for the next 22 years, after which they sold the business to return to the Southtowns where they both grew up and could be closer to family.
A lifelong fan of the Bills, Gary hardly ever missed a game, even when he was in Florida. Gary enjoyed giving the occasional karaoke concert with his favorite beer in hand: Bud Light. Naturally, with beer goes fishing. This was Gary’s favorite way to relax, and he enjoyed many trips with his best friend, Joey, when they were younger.
