Walter was a private man with a heart of gold. You had to get to know him to understand how funny he was, because while he was incredibly smart, his humor was just as dry. He loved staying active outdoors, always out around his home fixing, building, and improving. His home was his pride and joy. Everything had to be done "the right way," using his father's old hand tools. To relax, his favorite way to pass his time at home was to sit back with a Manhattan while listening to his albums. He loved classic jazz artists, such as Erroll Garner and Ella Fitzgerald, and how the songs on his old vinyl albums connected with each other to tell a story.
He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to beaches, where he could make lasting memories with his family. He and his beloved wife, Gloria, once rented a condo in Florida to spend time by the ocean. On their vacation as husband and wife, he spent much of his time trying to fix everything in the condo! Walter loved living on Lake Erie and had a house on the water for over 45 years. Whether it was in New York, Florida or wherever, he enjoyed walking on the beach to stay active.
