Obituary of Charlotte Yerkovich
YERKOVICH Charlotte Henden died Sunday, January 29, 2017 of natural causes. She was 93 and lived in Lake View for nearly 60 years. Born in Viroqua, Wisconsin, she grew up on the family's West Acre Farm and graduated from The Medical College of Wisconsin. She pursued her career as a Registered Nurse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met and married Dr. Anthony C. Yerkovich. Shortly thereafter they moved to Lackawanna and South Buffalo where he practiced medicine. They were married 55 years; he preceded her in death. They had nine children, all of whom survive her. Charlotte created beauty in her family, home and gardens. She had a powerful intellect, was an astute investor (achieving first place in The Buffalo News portfolio contest), was politically active, and fearless. She was great in a crisis. Most importantly, she supported those she cared for in achieving their potential and aspirations. Her bureau is full of thank you notes from people who benefited from her generosity. Survivors include: five sons, Stephen (Christina Arenas) of Washington, DC, Anthony of Santa Monica, CA, Eric of Houston, TX, Carl of Berkeley, CA and Edward (Sasha) of Lake View; four daughters, Louise Baudoin (Nicholas DiCostanzo) of Bronxville, Mary Ellen Burke (Brendan) of Lake View, Laura (John Winkler) of Riverside, CT and Sarah (Robert Anthony) of Buffalo; two sisters, Jeannette Ashmore and Bernice Hoff, 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brothers Kenneth and Donald Henden preceded her in death. Her family appreciates Charlotte's loving caregivers, especially Linda Dziamski. A memorial service will take place this summer.
