Robert was a family man with a stubborn streak. It was affectionately joked that his stubbornness came from his German heritage, but it was his determination that helped him be so positive. After growing up during the Great Depression, working in coal mines as a young man, and serving with the US Coast Guard in the Philippines during World War II, Robert worked through it all to be rewarded with a loving family. He made sure that he never missed his kids or grandkids in any of their plays, music recitals, or baseball games.
Robert was the type of man who simply enjoyed everything he could, especially when it came to food. He loved his cheese burgers and French fries, and had a soft spot for Paula’s Donuts. He also enjoyed the vacations that he took at the Jersey Shore. Something that everyone could see when they met Robert was that he was sharp as a tack. He was incredibly quick witted, and was wonderful to talk to about anything. Please take a tack in memory of Robert’s vibrant personality, and to never forget just how sharp he was.
