Jackie was a motivated and adventurous woman. She met her husband, Ralph, at a yacht club the first time she ever went there, and they enjoyed a lifetime of sailing together starting at that moment. Ralph’s first boat, Shasta, although a chore at times, gave them many fond memories on the water. Jackie worked hard most of her life as a nurse, returning to school at 46 to become a certified anesthetist. Jackie instilled the drive and value for education in her three daughters as well, and served as a role model for them throughout her life.
Jackie loved skiing, despite not being very good at it. She broke her leg on the slopes twice but that didn’t discourage her from getting out again and again, and having fun doing it. She took up running in her 50s, and enjoyed an active lifestyle as long as she was physically able. She could hang with the guys at the ski lodge or the yacht club and keep up with them, shot for shot. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was one of her favorite things in life. She was a genuine, kind, caring woman who always put others before herself. She loved to knit, and gave many gifts to her family that she had crafted herself
